Product leader.Founder.Builder.
From leading people to building useful products and AI systems.
Before the chapters
A journey through people,
products and systems.
I’m a Director of Product Management at Umbrage, part of Bain & Company, and a founder building products alongside that work. My path began in the Army and now includes directing AI agents through the work of making software.
Each chapter adds something to how I work today: leading people, understanding systems, owning a product and helping teams deliver.
01 / Leadership foundations
Lead people through
uncertainty.
U.S. Army · Infantry Officer
October 2010 – October 2022
I spent twelve years as an Army infantry officer, leading organizations, planning operations and advising senior military and civilian stakeholders. The work taught me to give people a clear intent while leaving room to respond when circumstances changed.
I learned that a plan has to make sense to the people acting on it. I still begin there: understand the situation, make the direction clear and stay accountable for the people affected by the decisions.

Understand the systems
behind the product.
ComboCurve · Data Product Manager, Data Services
January 2023 – October 2023
Clear direction also depends on understanding how the work fits together.
At ComboCurve, I established the data-services product strategy and roadmap for a B2B energy forecasting platform. I led integration strategy across public APIs, ETL and synchronization: the systems that move information into and through the product.
That work pushed me beneath the interface. What information does someone need? Where does it come from, and how does it stay consistent? I learned to connect those technical decisions to the experience a person relies on.

Own the product.
Through the build.
Career PCS · Technical Co-Founder, Product Lead & Lead Developer
April 2024 – Present
Founding a product brought the problem, the decisions and the implementation together.

I co-founded Career PCS to help transitioning service members find federal SkillBridge opportunities and employers manage the hiring process. As product lead and lead developer, I work across the whole product, from deciding what to solve to designing and building it.
For a veteran, the national map makes location part of finding an opportunity. For an employer, the portal brings candidate authorizations, cohort status and compliance reporting into one workflow. Those are different needs within the same product, and I have to make both work. This continues alongside my enterprise role.

Lead teams
through change.
Umbrage, part of Bain & Company
Senior Product Manager · January–December 2025
Director of Product Management · December 2025–Present
In enterprise work, product direction has to hold across teams and changing dependencies.
At Umbrage, I lead product definition and delivery across regulated utilities, financial services and enterprise software. I work with stakeholders, product managers, designers, engineers and architects to turn an opportunity into a plan teams can build together.
On a home and auto services program, I shaped capabilities around what members needed, independently of a particular partner. When the lead inventory partner paused, the team could pivot to another provider without redesigning the member experience. That reinforced a lesson: clear product decisions help teams adapt without losing sight of the person using the product.

Build the product.
And the process.
The Small But Mighty · Creator and Editor
April 2026 – Present
AI extends what I can build. It also makes the process behind the product more important.
I designed, built and launched The Small But Mighty, a K–5 curriculum platform, by directing AI agents through the product lifecycle. The starting point is a parent and child: can the parent understand what to do, and can the child engage with the lesson?
To support ongoing curriculum production, I built the Content Factory: a staged production and editorial pipeline with review checkpoints that stop production when inconsistencies are found. AI helps produce the material; human editorial review determines whether it is ready. Building the workflow is part of building the product.

Make the work visible.
Project W.A.T.C.H.
Window on Agents, Tools, Changes and Hand-offs
To direct agents well, I need to see what they are doing and when they need me.
I built Project W.A.T.C.H. to make coding-agent activity, changes and requests visible through a room of monitors, one per agent. It gives the person directing the work a place to see what is happening and when to step in.
For me, directing agents includes being able to inspect the work. Planning, implementation and independent review serve different purposes. Visibility helps me see the actual changes and the evidence from their checks, so I can decide what needs attention.

Building AI systems.
Bringing the whole journey.
Leading soldiers taught me responsibility for people. Product work taught me to connect a problem to the systems and decisions behind it. Founding products made me accountable for turning those decisions into working software. Enterprise delivery taught me to help teams adapt without losing direction.
Today, I bring that experience to building AI systems: setting direction, coordinating people and agents, and staying responsible for whether what we ship serves the people using it.
